SLS and SPST Held Welcome Ceremony for 2016 New Students

On September 8, 2016, the School of Life Sciences and the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology held the welcome ceremony together for 2016 new students at Room B203, No.26 Building in Weijin Road Campus, Tianjin University. Jay Siegel, the Dean of SLS and SPST, Feng Cuiling, Party Secretary of SPST, Zhang Lei, Party Secretary of SLS, and other leaders of the schools, distinguished guests of Thermo Fisher and some professional teachers attended the welcome ceremony.

Jay Siegel introduced the guests who attended the welcome ceremony, and gave the new students a warm welcome. Jay Siegel then gave an inspiring speech. He encouraged the students to find their own interest in the university, to evoke the learning enthusiasm and to cultivate a rigorous scientific attitude, which will determine their future direction of development. He hoped every student can make good use of their university life, such as contacting more teachers, doing more experiments and carrying out more scientific research projects. He wished everyone can become a real leader in a certain field. He also mentioned that the two schools had provided a good platform for students. He really hoped that the students of SLS and SPST can make good use of the resources to communicate and help with each other, thus to make contributions to human health.                                                                                                                           

Zhang Ling, Associate Dean of SPST, introduced the basic situation of the schools. The guest of Thermo Fisher Jeff Li made a speech. Then he gave out souvenirs to the new students together with the leaders of the two schools. He encouraged the new students to study hard and to repay to Tianjin University and society in the future.

It’s worth mentioning that English was used for all the process of the welcome ceremony. The warm atmosphere and the unique style of the ceremony had left a profound impression on the new students.
